May 1st was Blue Day for fundraisers in Portsmouth and this year it was joined by one of our Southern region’s teams working at St Michael’s Place, in Waterlooville, Hampshire.
The yearly event is in support of the Tom Prince Cancer Trust which was founded in 2004 in memory of avid Pompey football fan Tom Prince. He died on the eve of his 16th birthday, just 18 months after being diagnosed from teenage bone cancer osteosarcoma.
His mum Adele, dad Clinton and sister Emma launched Blue Day to fund research into the disease and hope to raise £1m. Since 2008, it has been held annually the day before Pompey's last home match of the season.
Our team at St Michael’s Convent, a development of apartments and houses surrounding the Grade II listed St. Michael’s Convent, donned blue for the day to raise awareness and show their support.
Linden Homes Southern organiser James Sullivan said: “We wanted to support Blue Day this year because it is a great charity.”
