There was glowing praise from the highly respected Royal Institute of British Architects when it awarded our Eastern region for a development of “truly remarkable” homes.
The team won the RIBA East Building of the Year for be:Newhall, a stunning collection of contemporary homes in Essex designed by Alison Brooks Architects.
Judges said that it “represents a spirited departure from the normative design associated with suburban house building. The 84-house scheme is striking for its intelligent rethinking of the needs of the suburban house and how houses relate to their neighbours.
“On a tight budget this project delivers houses that are a joy to live in, designed with intelligence and imagination. This is a fine achievement in its own right. In the context of UK housebuilding it is truly remarkable.”
It puts be:Newhall in the running for the coveted RIBA Stirling Prize for the best building of the year on a shortlist of 52 from which the winner will be announced on September 26th.
Linden Homes Eastern director and general manager Adrian Bohr said: “We were confident this was a very special collection of homes so it’s wonderful to have been recognised by as august an organisation as RIBA. The real winners are the families enjoying this thriving community.”
Wherever possible the appliances fitted in our homes are ‘A Rated’ or higher for energy performance.
