We contributed to a Surrey village’s Christmas lights display by topping up funding from a national scheme aimed at reviving the UK’s high streets.
Our Guildford region responded with £500 to help Cranleigh’s Chamber of Commerce prepare the community’s festive decorations, which are partly being supported using an award from the review led by design guru Mary Portas.
The formal switch-on will be on November 22nd when illuminations on trees, streets and lampposts will light up the village and its High Street, and signal the official start of the Christmas season.
Cranleigh is also about a mile-and-a-half from where we’ve delivered our Swallowhurst collection of four, five and six-bedroom homes.
Linden Homes Guildford managing director Peter Youll said: “We were very happy to help out, just like we did last year. The traders and villagers of Cranleigh always do a beautiful job with their Christmas decorations.
“Supporting local communities and their high streets is something that we see as part of our mission as a housebuilder, so it’s great to be able to add our backing to the Mary Portas initiative.”
