The dramatic landscapes of both the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Parks are situated close to Thirsk, allowing for plenty of peaceful walks in a relaxing and picturesque setting.

Thirsk is a bustling, traditional market town and its medieval cobbled square is where its twice weekly markets are held every Monday and Saturday. Here you’ll find a good variety of stalls selling everything from local produce and clothing, to hardware and health food. Bank Holiday Mondays are always popular, with the square being home to even more stalls selling a further selection of goods.

Rail travel from Thirsk is ideal for commuters, thanks to regular and direct services to York in approximately 20 minutes, and Leeds and Middlesbrough, both around 45 minutes away. London Kings Cross can be reached in around 2 hours 30 minutes, making it a short enough journey to get away for a weekend in the capital.

The closest school to Mowbray View - Thirsk Community Primary School - is just a few minutes’ drive away, and is one of nine primary schools in North Yorkshire that has a specialist team in place to support children experiencing social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Another school offering specialist support is Breckenbrough School. Approximately 5 miles away from Mowbray View, this is a day and residential school for boys with differing behavioural and learning difficulties.

There are also many state and independent schools for all age ranges near to Mowbray View. Thirsk School and Sixth Form College and Easingwold School are the closest state secondary schools, with Cundall Manor School and Queen Mary’s School - a day and boarding school for girls - both being within 10 miles of the development.

Located around 40 minutes’ drive away from Thirsk is the historic spa town of Harrogate. Popular with tourists all year round, the town has a great number of attractions, outdoor activities and events to enjoy. Walks throughout the town and in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are just two outdoor experiences you can enjoy, where you can take in the sights and scenery in a relaxed fashion.
