The town of Frimley is located two miles south of Camberley in the west of Surrey, adjacent to the Hampshire border. These new builds in Surrey are ideal for commuters being conveniently located about 31 miles from Central London and connected to the major motorway network via the M3/A331 Blackwater Valley Road.

Transport links

Frimley railway station provides easy access to Guildford, Ascot and London Waterloo (approximate journey time of 1hr 9 minutes with one change at Ascot or 1hr 20 minutes direct train). The town is situated close to the junction of the A325 Farnborough Road and A331 Blackwater Valley Relief Road providing a fast link to junction 4 of the M3 motorway for swift access to London/South West and M25 for London’s airports.

Local history

‘Frimley’ is derived from the Saxon name Fremma’s Lea or ‘Fremma’s Clearing’ and the area was renowned as a coach stop on the road from London to Southampton for about 400 years. Less than a mile from the town is the famous Royal Military Academy known as Sandhurst. All British Army officers are trained here including many members of the Royal Family: Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, Prince Harry, Prince Michael, Duke of Kent and Prince Edward, Duke of Kent.

Recreation

Surrey Heath’s ‘Jewel in the Crown’ is Frimley Lodge Park comprising 24 hectares of open space boasting woodlands, meadows, canal side walks, wildlife ponds and the renowned Frimley Lodge Park Railway (rated 5 stars on Trip Advisor). The area is also fortunate to have several recreational grounds with children’s play areas, football pitches, tennis courts and cricket squares. There is no excuse not to partake in the multitude of leisure activities on offer outside! There is even Tomlinscote, Frimley and Camberley’s local community sports and fitness centre with a well-equipped gym, variety of classes and plenty of children’s clubs.

Today the town is home to a number of prominent businesses like BAE Systems Integrated System Technologies and Siemens and it has undergone recent refurbishment and modernization. The High Street is extremely well equipped with a huge variety of retail outlets from popular brands like Waitrose to smaller independents. Local restaurants like the Italian Villa Bianca or Elaichi Indian are popular or diners can experience the plethora of cuisine on offer in nearby Camberley.

Education

There are a number of Ofsted rated ‘outstanding’ schools in Frimley itself including Cross Farm Infant School, St Augustine’s Roman Catholic Primary School, Ravenscote Junior School and Tomlinscote School and Sixth Form College.

There is also a good choice of nearby Independent schools including Lyndhurst School for girls and boys aged 3-11 in nearby Camberley, Hawley Place School (co-ed ages 2-16) also in Camberley and the historic Farnborough Hill School for girls (ages 11-18) in Farnborough, just over a mile away.
