Just a short walk from Ensleigh is Beckford’s Tower and Museum. Built in approximately 1826, the Tower was once home to a vast collection of books, furniture and art in Georgian England. Since 1973, it has been a museum for prints, paintings and artefacts from the period, and has some of the most stunning and uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside for visitors to enjoy. Houses in Bath and the immediate area around the city benefit from some good travel connections all over the south of England and beyond. Ensleigh has easy access to a good ‘A’ road network; the A36 runs south from Bath all the way to Salisbury in around 1 hour 30 minutes. This then provides links to the M27, with additional links to a vast number of other main routes, including the M3, A3 and M25. Motorways close to Ensleigh are the M4 and M5. From these, locations including Chippenham (35 minutes), Bristol (40 minutes), and Newport (less than an hour) can be reached, making it simple for commuters. Longer journeys can also be made to Cheltenham (1 hour 15 minutes), Reading (1 hour and 30 minutes) and even Birmingham (approximately 2 hours).

For rail travel, the nearest railway station to Ensleigh is at Oldfield Park, just under 2 miles away. From here, regular journeys can be made to Westbury (35 minutes), Warminster (50 minutes), Weymouth (just over 2 hours) and Great Malvern (around 2 hours 25 minutes). Bath Spa station is a little further away from the development, which allows for journeys to London Paddington in around 1 hour 30 minutes.

Beyond the town centre there is The Museum of Somerset, which is set within the town’s 12th century castle, and has numerous artefacts and details about the county’s fascinating history to discover. Outdoor space for relaxing or even playing sports can be found in all corners of the town, including French Weir Park, Victoria Park, Bishops Hull Playing Field, and Galmington Recreation Ground. And, with a number of small waterways running through the town, there are a number of places where you and your family can enjoy some peaceful walks.

For some time away from the bustle of the city and town, the outskirts of Cranborne Chase AONB are around 22 miles away from home. Covering approximately 380 sq. miles of beautiful open countryside, this is a great place for all the family to visit for a day away from it all. Walking, riding and cycling trails are available for everyone to get involved in; there is an abundance of wildlife and birds to seek out and numerous villages to explore too.
