This prehistoric chalk figure was cut into the downland anything up to 3,000 years ago and gives its name to the whole area, the Vale of White Horse. Great walking country, the area includes National trails such as The Ridgeway and The Thames Path. Other places to explore include pretty local villages such as Faringdon, historic houses such as William Morris’s Kelmscott Manor and the grandiose Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Other great days out could include a trip to the Cotswolds, horse racing at Newbury or Cheltenham, boating on the River Thames, or exploring the shops, colleges and museums of Oxford.

Swindon’s junction 15 of the M4 is 7 miles away, while Oxford, Reading and the M25 are a comfortable driving distance.
