St Clements has it all

Located just a short DLR journey to Canary Wharf, the east London district of Bow is ideally positioned for getting to a number of other areas of London quickly and easily. It’s also a few minutes from Victoria Park, one of the city’s oldest and largest parks, and a short walk to the Olympic Park. It’s this combination of city bustle and plentiful, open space that makes a new apartment at St Clements a great place to call home.

What’s in Bow?

  • Victoria Park, one of London’s oldest and largest parks
  • The historic and popular Roman Road, and its numerous markets

Opened in 1845 and set over 86 hectares of open space, Victoria Park is one of London’s largest areas of green, open space. With lakes, tennis courts, two cafes and two pubs set within its grounds, it offers visitors a relaxed place to socialise with family and friends, while still being close to the city and all its bustle. And with a number of small festivals held within the park’s grounds throughout the year, it’s a great destination for any music fan.

Roman Road, which runs through Bow and nearby Bethnal Green, is one of East London’s most well-known high streets. It was the centre of radicalism and Suffragette activity during the 19th and 20th centuries, so its place in history is a fascinating one. Nowadays, it’s a hugely popular point of interest, not only for those looking to get back in touch with its history, but also for those shopping at the road’s now famous markets. Held every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, there are many stalls specialising in foods, clothing, fabrics and furniture. There is also a ‘Yard’ market, which alternates between designer-maker and vintage goods.

What else does Bow have to offer?

  • A fantastic choice of places to eat and drink
  • Excellent public transport and ‘A’ road links

Aside from the food court area found within Roman Road market, Bow is home to a good number of pubs, bars and restaurants. The Bow Bells pub is around 10 minutes’ walk from St Clements and on the Bow Road, and is a popular destination for those looking for a relaxed spot to socialise. The Little Driver pub is just down the road, and is also somewhere great for meeting friends. For somewhere a little more eclectic, Satan’s Whiskers is a bar close to Bethnal Green tube station, that features some quirky decoration, vintage wall art and a great selection of cocktails. As well as the vast number of pubs offering food, there are also cafes and restaurants catering for all tastes and choices, including a selection of vegetarian and vegan eateries.

Flats in Bow benefit from being surrounded by excellent rail and road networks. Mile End tube station is a 5 minute walk from St Clements and, with links on the Central, District and Hammersmith & City lines, it allows for simple journeys to central, east and west London. Bow Road DLR station is also close to the development, and is an easy way to get to destinations including Stratford, Canary Wharf and London City Airport in a short time.

For travel by car, the A12 and A13 can both be easily accessed from St Clements. The A12, which runs all the way from near Ipswich to the Blackwall Tunnel, passes through Bow, meaning a great number of places in Essex and The O2 in Greenwich can be reached. The A13, which also services Essex, can be accessed from Bow, and will take you into the centre of the city easily.

What will I find outside of Bow?

  • The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and surrounding area
  • The outdoor oasis of the London Wetland Centre

The Olympic Park and its surrounding areas were part of a huge regeneration project in the run up to the 2012 Olympics. Now home to the Olympic stadium, a multi-sport venue - The Copper Box Arena - and an aquatics centre, it has been transformed into a smart and welcoming area, with plenty of open space for peaceful walks away from the bustle of the cityscape. With the hugely popular Westfield shopping complex also nearby, this is a part of east London that attracts vast numbers of tourists and locals every day of the week.

Those looking for property for sale in Bow will also find the outdoor oasis of the London Wetland Centre within a short distance. Located next to the River Lea, this 105 acre space is ideal for enjoying a relaxing walk with friends or family, all while spotting some of the area’s fantastic wildlife. There are a number of events for youngsters throughout the year, and the Centre’s café is a great spot to sit and enjoy the view for a while over something to eat and drink.
