A home in the country
With its attractive mix of early and mid-Victorian brick houses, as well as a selection of much older homes, Swanmore is an historic village in a delightful rural position. But while pretty and peaceful, this is still a thriving community, with a good selection of local amenities. Indeed, the village shop, post office, butchers and well regarded primary school and secondary school are all a short stroll from Scholar’s Grange, affording residents easy access to the heart of the village.
A few miles from Swanmore, residents can discover Bishops Waltham, a market town packed with Georgian buildings and an array of shops and eateries. This is a town that prides itself on its diverse and fiercely independent offering, and there’s plenty to discover – from old-fashioned grocers and butchers, to bustling brasserie-style cafés and clothing boutiques. A generic high street, it is not!
Whether you’re after history and culture, or need a retail ‘fix’, Scholar’s Grange is ideally located.
Hedge End Retail Park is a ten to fifteen minute drive from Swanmore, and offers shoppers big names like Marks & Spencer, Next, Sainsbury’s and PC World.
For those looking for a little history, Winchester is hard to beat. The town is home to a fortified Medieval gateway, the oldest continuously running school in the country, a world famous cathedral where Jane Austen is buried and, perhaps the most interesting, the Great Hall, a 13th Century building which houses King Arthur’s Round Table. Wander its compact, pedestrian-friendly streets for a truly fascinating – and historical – day out.
