AT BEAUMONT GATE, YOU’LL FIND ALL YOU NEED RIGHT ON YOUR DOORSTEP. SO SIT BACK, RELAX AND ENJOY LIFE IN THIS BEAUTIFUL, PEACEFUL PART OF HAMPSHIRE.

Within one mile of Beaumont Gate lies The Square, the town’s attractive focal point. Home to the statue of King William III, this is the site of a twice-weekly market which dates back to the town’s very foundations in 1182.

Just off The Square is the High Street which, together with the nearby Rams Walk, offers shoppers a wide choice of popular chains and individual outlets. An array of tea shops can be found in the little alleys off Chapel Street and High Street, while a large supermarket just a few minutes’ walk from The Square rounds off the town’s shopping.

A short stroll from the High Street is Petersfield Heath: a 69-acre expanse of grass and heathland set around 22 acres of water. In 1913, the Urban District Council acquired the greater part of the Heath for the town and, over time, introduced a cricket pitch, golf course, lawn tennis courts and children’s play area.

Today, these outdoor pursuits are supplemented by boating on the pond which is also home to Canadian geese, ducks, swans and herons. Each year in October, the 700-year old Heath Fair (formerly the Taro Fair) takes place here, providing entertainment for young and old alike. And when the Fair ends, peace is restored.

FROM RECREATION AND EDUCATION, TO SHOPPING AND COMMUTING, YOU’RE NEVER FAR FROM LIFE’S NECESSITIES AT BEAUMONT GATE.

The nearby Taro Leisure Centre has a pool for every level of swimmer, plus a gym, sports courts, crèche and café. The town also has a vibrant artistic and musical scene. Bedales Arts, in nearby Steep, offers an eclectic mix of music, dance and exhibitions in the rural campus of Bedales School, one of many private schools in the area.

Within easy walking distance of Beaumont Gate is Petersfield Infant School whose strong links with Herne Junior School ensure continuity of learning. Secondary education is provided by The Petersfield School, while sixth formers can attend Alton College locally, or South Downs and Havant Colleges further afield.

Just 30 miles away is the flourishing market town of Guildford, where beautiful boutiques, busy markets, undercover centres and independent stores will leave shoppers spoilt for choice. Adjoining the cobbled High Street are Guildford’s hidden side streets, featuring one-off shops nestled between national chains, as well as family run cafés, pubs and bars.

For those wishing to commute, Beaumont Gate is the perfect base. The A3 between Portsmouth and London runs to the west of the town. By train, you can be in London Waterloo in little more than an hour and Portsmouth in around 30 minutes. Air travel is equally effortless, with Southampton, Gatwick and Heathrow Airports just 28, 35 and 40 miles away, respectively.
