From the beach, you can see the 26-metre octagonal Godrevy Lighthouse, made famous by the novel To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf. Positioned just 3 miles out to sea, the lighthouse stands on the attractive Godrevy Island and is a much-loved attraction. Away from the shops, Truro Cathedral is situated at the heart of the city, and is one of the most popular destinations for tourists and day trippers. It is open all year round, and offers free admission, meaning you can enjoy guided tours and trails for all the family. The cathedral was built between 1880 and 1910, so there is plenty of history to discover; it is also one of only three cathedrals in the UK that has three spires.

Just a few minutes from the cathedral is Victoria Gardens. Located close to the River Kenwyn, the gardens are a beautiful place to spend time relaxing in, with numerous exotic flowers and trees to enjoy.

With so much country and coast to enjoy in this part of the world, there is perhaps no better place to visit than St Michael’s Mount. Just 13 miles away from home, this stunning island is full of history, with a village, harbour and gardens to enjoy, before exploring the imposing castle, which is the biggest attraction for visitors. Access to the island can be made by boat or by walking along the causeway; if you’re choosing to walk across, you’ll need to be aware of high tide as this will cut you off from the mainland!
